What we do
KWP Energia is a renewable energy generation company, specializing in floating solar energy, a modality in which it is a pioneer and market leader in Brazil.
KWP Energia performs the operational, financial, and commercial management of its own generating plants or those associated with third parties. It operates in the self-production, micro and mini distributed generation, and hybrid generation markets.

Floating Solar
An innovative technology that uses the surface of dams, reservoirs, and lakes to install floating photovoltaic plants. The floating solar plant on the water surface provides greater efficiency for the photovoltaic panels compared to those on the land, prevents water evaporation in shaded areas, and eliminates the need for land expropriation, soil movement and vegetation suppression.
Partner Locations for Installation
Floating solar power plants can be installed in:
- Hydroelectric plant dams
- Bays
- Rivers
- Lakes and lagoons
Potential Users
Floating solar panels can be used to generate energy for:
- Water and sanitation companies
- Industries
- Agriculture companies
- Green hydrogen production companies
- Other hybrid generators
Ground solar power plants with or without tracker
Has positive impacts on the environment, such as zero greenhouse gas emissions, zero waste and zero noise.
Promotes a reduction in electricity costs for the population and companies in the private and public sectors.
May include tracker, which optimizes the modules efficiency.
Project
KWP Energia was the creator and developer of the first floating solar plant in the Southeast of Brazil, in one of the largest reservoirs in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, the Billings Dam.
Developed by KWP Energia and implemented by Sunlution company, the pilot project of the Metropolitan Water and Energy Company (Emae) has an installed capacity of 100 kWp. Based on the successful project, Emae opened a public call in October 2020 to attract investors for the construction of new floating solar plants at that location reaching up to 90 MWp at four pre-established sites on the Billings Dam.
